The Desert Ride - Day 13 - Alice Springs --> Yulara

*The map should show now the entire trip so far, but doesn't seem to save much location information as we thought while out of Telstra reception. As a result there are gaps missing from our route, but hopefully you'll get most of the key points.

Also, not many photos until I can get a better internet connection*

Rod Decided, instead of coming south then west with us past Uluru, to head home from Alice Springs. So this morning we unpacked and repacked the trucks, moving one fridge to the back of the cab in the Hilux, and whatever other things we needed. We all left the hotel where we were staying, Rod going one way, and Frog, Tony and I going another.

After that we still had to get permits finalised for WA, as we hadn't ticked the right boxes or hadn't dotted the t's and they hadn't auto-approved for us last night. Due to that we were in Alice until around 10, which is much later than we usually have started travelling.

Lunch was at Erldunda Roadhouse ("back again?!"), where we also refuelled before heading west towards Uluru and the WA border.

After lunch we pushed on and made it in daylight to Yulara near Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and set up camp in the camp grounds here.

Dinner is steak and snags from the freezer and baked beans from a can, but you could probably cook a 3 course meal at the kitchens at these camp sites, there's even a kettle for boiling water, microwaves for microwaving things, a fridge for fridging things, and a television for visioning things.

Now it is just a few last things before bed, I'm writing this, Frog is writing his facebook blog for today, and Tony is copying today's footage from the Hilux dash cam. Although, there are cabins nearby where about 20 people all seem to know each other, are blaring music and generally being loud, so I don't know how much sleep anyone will be getting any time soon...
