*The map should show now the entire trip so far, but doesn't seem to save much location information as we thought while out of Telstra reception. As a result there are gaps missing from our route, but hopefully you'll get most of the key points.
Also, not many photos until I can get a better internet connection*
This morning we packed up and left to go somewhere I had reception so that I could catch up on the blog. We went back to the Daly Waters Highway Inn servo so we could get some milk for breakfast while I sorted out my blog posts.
Then it was time to head east. The road we are taking is another one that is mostly single lane, with a few wider sections at floodways and this road also has two lanes for a lot of the curves in the road.
It was a good road for a while there, until we got to the very long sections where there were corrugations in the sealed road.
Northern Territory, where even the sealed roads have corrugations...
Down low can be seen the old shoo roo from the last trip, just above the light can be seen a receiving dish for the new version the Roo Interceptor
We had a headwind for the whole sealed road to Borroloola, which was no trouble for the Hilux of course, but the little Honda was full throttle at about 80km/h.
Part way through the struggle we stopped for lunch at Heartbreak Hotel, at Cape Crawford. We refuelled the Honda, took a few photos and continued on.
The next stop is at Borroloola to get some supplies and see if we can find out about camping spots on the Savannah Way. No luck really, we got a map with very few details, and found out there are sections of the road that are underwater, but should be passable, apparently. We'll see how accurate that is for ourselves...
The dirt road we are on now is very corrugated and has plenty of 'traffic hazards' as they call them. We have had a few river crossings, but since there have been caravans coming the other way, we aren't too worried. Frog has been able to get through in one go on the Honda, but he does have some wet shoes now...
Right now we are camped near the Robinson River. Earlier, when we were coming up to the river and the campsite, we saw a sign advising about crocodile safety. Naturally we ignored it and went down to the river to check it out.
With no crocs to speak of, we set up camp and chatted to the other people staying in the camping spot. Then it was another night of open air cinema, watching Hercules on Frog's DVD player.
